Chapter Overview

Our Chapters are run independently - mainly focusing on hosting monthly events.  The intent is to create a bottom-up society that functions at a local level, with organizational support from the Bastiat Society network.

The hope is that, in the near future, there will be a Bastiat Society Chapter in every US city, and in every country around the world - expanding our message in a grassroots manner.  We will be a wholesaler of liberty - making the ideas of liberty, the free market, and the morality of capitalism available to the everyday businessperson.

Strategic Promise

While other free market economics groups are mostly academia with a few business people, we set ourselves apart by being mostly business professionals (the wealth creators) and a few academics.

Unless we can restore popular confidence in an economic order based on freedom, we will live under an immoral economic system based on power, theft, and envy.  Business must take the lead in defending the morality and productivity of free societies.

Chapter Guidelines

We expect each Chapter to:

  • Be apolitical.  Meetings must focus on free market education - not people or politics.
  • Host at least six liberty-minded lectures in the first year.  These lectures should become monthly (at least 11/yr) after the first year.
  • Be organized by business professionals and have its target audience be business professionals.

Chapter Formation Guide

Step #1

Read the Bastiat Society Bylaws (below)

Please note: Chapter organizers must be members of the business community.  Government employees, politicians, and academics are not allowed to form Bastiat chapters.

Step #2

Send the following to  info@bastiatsociety.com  for board review and approval:

1.    Professional biography
2.    Résumé
3.    A description of what you hope to accomplish by creating a Bastiat Society chapter in your city.  This should include a description of the types of events you will organize (lectures, discussion forums, book clubs, etc), the type of people you hope to attract, and any partnerships you have with existing organizations.

Step #3

Once the board of directors approves your request to start a chapter, you must complete and sign Appendix A - “Chapter Formation Agreement” included in the bylaws.

Scan and email this form to info@bastiatsociety.com .  The Chapter formation fee is due with 30 days.

Step #4

Connect with other Bastiat Society chapters and grow your chapter while remaining positive, non-political, and education-based.
